EEI Power Charts a Resilient and Renewable Energy Future at the 2nd Philippine Powerplant Energy Summit
Manila, Philippines, October 16, 2025 — EEI Power Corporation joined the nation’s top energy leaders at the 2nd Philippine Powerplant Energy Summit, held at the Grand Ballroom of Hyatt Regency, City of Dreams, Manila. The summit gathered policymakers, developers, and industry experts to define how the Philippines can achieve a secure, balanced, and sustainable energy future.
Representing EEI Power, Vice President and General Manager Robert Marlon Pereja took part in the panel discussion “Vision 2050: Power Plant Outlook and the Road to Energy Security” where he shared insights on how innovation, investment, and collaboration can reshape the country’s power sector.
Sharing EEI Power’s perspective, Pereja emphasized the importance of building a resilient foundation for the clean energy transition.
“Thermal plants still play a role in grid-forming capability while battery storage becomes more mature and affordable,” he said, underscoring the need for reliability as renewables scale up.
He also urged the industry to invest in infrastructure that will enable growth in renewables.
“We must start developing ports that can handle large offshore wind projects. Our current ports are not yet equipped for it,” he noted, pointing to how readiness today can unlock opportunities tomorrow.
Looking toward 2050, Pereja called for a stronger focus on inclusive growth through clean energy access.
“If we can bring even 35% renewable share to off-grid islands by 2050, we lessen fuel subsidies and open doors for local economic growth,” he shared.
As the country pursues a resilient and balanced energy transition, EEI Power continues to champion an integrated approach that combines its experience in power generation, energy services, and renewables to drive progress for communities and the nation.
